Well today after taking a few shots I lucked out and looked high in the sky to notice what at first I simply called "an upside down rainbow!" How simple and uneducated a description it was until I found out the technical term from my friend Travis (http://tfavretto.deviantart.com/gallery/) that it is indeed a Circumzenithal Arc. He then notified me that this in fact was a very rare sighting and he himself has never seen one (yes he's jealous!) Well either way I figured I should post a picture of it for all to enjoy!

If you want to see exactley what it is you can visit here (http://www.rfleet.clara.net/gbh/czarc.html)

Camera: Nikon D50 (18mm, F16, 1/320)

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://lensmithastro.blogspot.com/2007/01/infamous-circumzenithal-arc_30.html' title='The Infamous Circumzenithal Arc! I took this photo up and old VERY rough camp road north of Desbarats Lake Ontario to where there are a pretty impressive set of waterfalls that have great photo capabilities. The terain is a bit rough, but wear some boots and enjoy the scenery and you will not be dissapointed. If you travel further up the trail you can actually hike about 2 hours into whats locally known as "Desbarats Caves" this is a cave system that is home to a Brown Bat sactuary and is very impressive. If you want more info on it you can go here: (http://johanna.wandel.ca/batcave/index.html) to Joanna Wandel's website she made the trek there and has some great photo's !!

Camera: Nikon Coolpix 880 (8mm, F7.8, 4 seconds, ISO 100)

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://lensmithastro.blogspot.com/2007/01/motion-falls.html' title='Motion Falls! This being early January it was shocking as hell that we have no snow in Northern Ontario!! Well believe it or not this is what it looked like that day. While taking shots at an old abandoned house my friend Travis and I stumbled upon some cool finds in the long grass. I immediately I took to this snowmachine from I have no idea what year (probably 60's or 70's) and snapped a few shots. With the bland colours at this time of the year I figured black and white would suit this picture and I must say, I am glad I went with that choice as it is one of my favorite shots!

Camerea: Nikon D50 (19mm, F8, 1/30)

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://lensmithastro.blogspot.com/2007/01/global-warming.html' title='Global Warming! It was late afternoon and just starting to get dark, I remember vividly that I was sitting in our den working on photos when all of a sudden an erie pink glow came streaming in the windows. It was odd because not 5 mins earlier it was getting rather dark out.
